Amperesand, a Singaporean electrical infrastructure startup, has raised over $12.4 million in initial funding. Material Impact and Temasek's Xora Innovation led the deal, with participation from Foothill Ventures and TDK Ventures.

Based at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Amperesand provides grid infrastructure solutions, particularly for EV charging. Their solid-state transformer technology enables more efficient high-frequency transformers for various applications.

The seed money will enable Amperesand to industrialize and produce their technology on a large scale. This is a significant moment for SST commercialization, according to Phil Inagaki, managing director of Xora Innovation.

Founded by industry veterans from ABB, General Electric, Siemens, and Vestas, Amperesand began as an SST research program at NTU and was officially established in 2023.
